Untangle
(2021)
Untangle explores the dynamics of a relationship through a series of black and white performative portraits. My roommate Olivia Jenkins and I perform an awkward dance as limbs intertwine, and we attempt to mimic each other’s actions. The sequence is interrupted by a smaller booklet of still life photographs.
Sing Softly (2021)
Sing Softly is a photo book made up of black and white photographs inverted digitally. The images are photos of the sky that I took while I still lived with my parents and photographs of the lake that I grew up next to. The ethereal nature of the inversion reflects the way I look back at my hometown and recall memories from my childhood.
Folklore 2 (2019)
Folklore 2 was inspired by my first set of self-portrait photographs that dialogue with mythology. By masquerading as characters from folklore in my apartment with my roommates, I am comparing the stories and themes from traditional tales to my own experiences.
Folklore (2019)
Folklore is a series of six portraits of myself masquerading as different characters from American folklore. The singular photographs are named after the character represented.
Paper Doll (2019)
Paper Doll is a photo installation that explores the ties between outward dress and inward identity. The variety of dress includes different expressions or gender, age, occupation, and style.
Configuration (2019)
Configuration is defined by the Oxford Dictionary as “An arrangement of parts or elements in a particular form, figure, or combination.” Configuration consists of fourteen 4x5 film portraits that explore the human form as a language for portraying emotion.
Home Bodies (2018)
Home Bodies is a series of still lives inspired by aged and modern snapshot photographs. Half of which are from my youth while the others are from my college apartment. The still lives are constructed from objects found in these snapshots.
Voices and Faces of Uptown (2018)
Voices and Faces of Uptown is a photo series of locally owned storefronts in the Uptown area of Minneapolis. These photographs were shot in the midst of infrastructure changes as the city has taken major steps to gentrify the area.
